About
Hi, hello! You've got time to waste, and we're here to waste it.
Time to Waste Vintage is a two-person operation in Memphis, Tennessee. I'm Sami. I sew, I teach free beginner sewing and upcycling tutorials, and I run the business around a full-time job and a house full of projects. Waka, my husband, sources rare vintage full-time, with a thing for rare t-shirts. Mine is midcentury.
What we sell
1930s to 1990s vintage clothing, designer pieces, vintage home decor, and the clothes I (Sami) make by hand from vintage materials. Everything handmade is one of one, because I made it myself. The vintage is hand-picked, cleaned, measured and photographed by us, with the flaws named plainly. Vintage sizing is not modern sizing, so trust the measurements and not the tag.
Why
Because it's already here. The clothes already exist, and most of them were made better than what you can buy new. Buying them, fixing them, or turning them into something else is the fastest way for a normal person to opt out of fast fashion. Old me would have called that trash. I call it fabric.
Every tutorial stays free and always will. If you want to learn to sew, start on the tutorials page or on YouTube. If you'd rather wear something I already made, the handmade collection is right there.
Where to find us
The shop is here. Live shows are on Whatnot. Everything else is @youhavetimetowaste, and the things we use to run the business are on the supplies page. We also founded Out of the Woods Wildlife Rescue & Rehab in 2020, which is the same instinct: this deserves a second chance.
