The machines I actually use
My main machine is the Singer Heavy Duty 6700C — the one you see me sewing on in almost every video. It's great for total beginners and seasoned sewers alike, and it powers through everything from delicate vintage to chunky upcycles.
I also keep a Singer Heavy Duty 4423 as my teaching machine — it's the one my kids learn on. Simple, sturdy, and beginner-proof.
My favorite Singer tools
Honestly, it's the little things that make sewing fun. The stuff I reach for again and again:
- Presser feet — all the different ones. A zipper foot, a walking foot, a rolled-hem foot... each one unlocks a new trick.
- Needles in every size — the right needle for the fabric saves so many headaches (and so many snapped needles).
- A good pair of shears — sharp fabric scissors you guard with your life.
- The better-quality basics — honestly, just go second-to-best or best on Singer's standard tools. You don't need the fanciest everything, but the nicer basics last and simply work.
