Let's open this package from Japan: kimonos, deadstock finds, and an unreasonable amount of candy

Summary

My friend Paula is in Japan and she sent me a big ass package full of treats. Snacks I can't read the labels on, vintage from labels I've never encountered, and — the part JR was hovering just off-camera waiting for — kimonos.

She wrapped everything within an inch of its life. She was taking no chances with USPS. Correct instinct.

• Snacks: Japanese peach green tea, milk sables, some kind of rice cake situation, a spicy garlic chili flake thing, and an amount of candy that suggests Paula knows exactly what I live on.
• Vintage clothing from brands entirely new to me — a Lucina piece with shoulder pads and a red-and-black check that reads brown from a distance, a maxi dress with an incredible collar and floral, a Spiga shirt that feels unbelievable, and a denim jacket with a raw edge. (Raw edges are fine on a jacket. Not when you're sewing. You know better.)
• Deadstock with the tags still on — and sweatpants with little hands on the butt.
• The kimonos. The construction is genuinely beautiful. Made with care. One of them smells so good and clean I considered just layering them all.
• Small treasures: a sparkly little wallet, turtle chopsticks in a turtle box, wooden beads, and a scarf so cute I didn't want to open it.
• Also a Puchinko Winter Sonata something-or-other that I could not identify. Everyone in the picture seemed thrilled. If you know, tell me.

Hi. Hello. I got a big ass package today. My friend Paula is in Japan and she sent me treats. So many freaking treats.

Look at this Japanese peach green tea. Hey, Miss Mimokco, this looks tasty. Could you make a cup of it for me? [snorts] That's so cute. We're going to eat some snacks. We got milk sables. I don't know what that is, but they look really yummy. You want to open these? We're going to try them soon. Then we've got ASMR Delight over here. Maybe they're rice cakes of some sort. I have no idea. Believe it or not, I don't speak Japanese.

And then she sent me so much clothes. Look at these freaking sweatpants. Those are so cute. They have little hands on the butt. Who are you? Oh, you are cute. And you're deadstock — not used, tags on. Look at her.

What is this one? Lucina. I don't know this brand. I guess I won't know most of these brands cuz they're from Japan. She's got shoulder pads and the sweetest pattern. I feel like it's reading not the right color. It's like red and black checked and it kind of makes it this cool brown color. I love that bumblebee with the little flowers. Oh, this is so cute. You are so cute. Who are you? Tight in the store.

It's so cool seeing these brands that I've never heard of before. What's this? What are you? Okay, this is so cool. It's just like a maxi dress with the coolest collar and the best floral pattern. This is going to be so cozy.

Where are you? It's like Christmas right now. What is this? This is amazing. I mean, she wrapped it securely, too. She wasn't taking any chances with USPS.

What are you in here? Oh, it's like a spicy garlic chili flake thing. She was telling me about this. This is cool. Look here. Check it out. My honey is just off-screen cuz he knows there's about to be some kimonos in here. I think he's excited to see too.

What do we have here? Got a little chip chip. She's cute. I love these stripes. Oh, here we freaking go. Look at this. The construction of this is so good. Just truly made with care and I am into it. What are you? Oh my god, this one is gorgeous. It smells so good and clean. Look at this pattern. Behold. What if I'm just going to layer them?

And then more treats. Sweetest little box. It's a little wallet. Look at the sparkles. I love her so much. I don't want to separate you guys. Another gorgeous box. [gasps] Oh my gosh, it's little turtles all the way down. It's chopsticks. How cute. And turtles.

Here we go. Candy. Oh my gosh. So much candy. It's like she knows that that's what I live off of. What do we have here? What are you — Puchinko Winter Sonata. I don't know what this is. And this darling little scarf. I don't even want to open it. It's so cute. But wait, there's more. We have this sweet little top. What a fun pattern. So freaking cute. Oh, and she has little wood beads. Where are you? There you are. Little wood beads. Oh, she's cute. I love this. It feels really nice, too. Do you have any taggies? No, you're a mystery to us all.

Here we go. Spiga. S-P-I-G-A. Feel this shirt. It feels so good. And then we got this guy. Sick little denim jacket. Love this raw edge. No raw edges when you're sewing though. You know better. This is so good.

Oh my gosh. And one last thing in here. Yes. Hell yes. This is so beautiful. Oh my gosh. Paula. You shouldn't have. Truly, I am so glad you did. Oh my gosh, this is all so amazing. Thank you so much. Do you want to wear one of my kimonos, honey? You sure? Okay. I love you. Thank you.
